Christmas On A Great Street

Christmas On A Great Street is the yuletide slogan of Christmas on Singapore's iconic Orchard Road

So this year is the first year I didn’t go home to L.A. for Thanksgiving. Hopefully it is the last one too because I have been really homesick after missing my annual tradition, even though I’m set to visit home in less than two weeks. I’ve come to really enjoy Thanksgiving in the States and Christmas in Singapore. I can and did still make a turkey with all the trimmings, but it isn’t the same. And one new tradition was also missing this year: shopping on Black Friday. I never went out for Black Friday shopping when I lived in the U.S., but now that I live in one of the most expensive cities in the world, shopping and stocking up on Black Friday weekend has become an essential part of my yearly visit home. I guess I’ll make up for the lost sales on December 26, but today we somewhat made up for the loss of Black Friday by participating in a Singapore holiday tradition: walking down Orchard Road to take photos of, and with, the elaborate Christmas decorations all the finest stores and malls display this time of year. Orchard Road bills it as “Christmas on a Great Street”. Here are a few photos from today. I’ll be putting up some more on instagram this week, and if you haven’t connected with me on IG yet, please do https://www.instagram.com/karenr898/

Having a home in KL, Singapore is a great place to pop in for a day or a weekend. I’ve been motivating my team to spend a day in Singapore opening bank accounts, and this article will be the ammunition I need to seal the deal. Christmas in Singapore looks great!

Hi Andrew, we love to visit KL, but Singapore is very nice for Christmas. Gardens by the Bay is also very nice for Christmas spirit while you’re here.
